Collectively, we've made some headway -- but it is now clear that a vast number of people in America have been hoodwinked by the Obama PR machine. It is the only thing that can explain his lead in the polls at this late date against John McCain.
I say this because I believe that many of Obama's supporters don't know anything about him -- what he stands for, who his friends are, or what he really believes. If they did they wouldn't be so quick to hand him the keys to our kingdom.
It is a comment on the nature of our political system that so many voters do so little real evaluation of the candidates on the issues that matter most. So many voters are reflexive in their support that they haven't done the homework that is necessary to making an informed choice. Barack Obama is a perfect example of this; people are attracted to him because he's black, because he's eloquent, because he looks and sounds like someone who could be president. He's "progressive" (whatever that means -- but it sounds good!). He's for the "little guy". He represents "change". Whatever. It's all in the packaging.
The truth is that Obama will be the most liberal president in history. His associations and his past tell us that he will be a radicalizing influence on our country. He will pursue social economic justice through political means. The community organizing and his support for ACORN is just a small taste of what will come with an Obama presidency.
I believe that Obama's goal is to destroy the power structure in this country. He will be openly hostile to wealth and entrepreneurship. His economic policies will be confiscatory and will seek to redistribute wealth to satisfy his socialist agenda. Noone will be safe. Emboldened by a Democratic Congress, Obama will rule by fiat. Our history of individualism and self-determination will be radically changed to one of collectivism. It will be a radical departure from what we have known since the Reagan revolution of the 1980s.
If this sounds like scare tactics -- it's not. It's the truth. The radicals of the 1960s will have a friend in the Oval Office who shares their goals and will make their long-awaited social revolution a reality. It is not a fantasy. Just ask Tom Hayden and his cronies about how progressives are behind Barack Obama. The new radicals at the Daily Kos and MoveOn.org are now salivating at the opportunity to destroy conservatism once and for all. These are not people prone to compromise or bipartisanship; these are people bent on total victory. Take a few moments and spend some time at one of these leftist Internet sites. The language, the sentiments will disgust you. These are angry, evil people. And they are now a few weeks away from taking their place in the West Wing.
The truth is that America is not a left-wing nation. But Democrats and independents are being hoodwinked into believing that Barack Obama is someone who is post-partisan and post-racial; a unifier. His campaign has done a phenomenal job in painting this picture. It's been a marketing campaign worthy of the best of Madison Avenue.
And it is all a total lie. Obama is a radical. He looks and sounds good. But don't be fooled by the package. Inside is a tough, partisan pol who seeks to remake this country in the image of his collectivist goals. Don't be hoodwinked: Barack Obama is a danger to this country.
